Emergency Relief
As part of our role as a public benevolent institution, we provide support to Aboriginal families in crisis.

Food
Food vouchers are provided to those struggling to feed themselves and their families. Food vouchers can be spent in Katherine or at the store of their local community.
Transport
Assistance is provided to Jawoyn people and other Aboriginal people living on Jawoyn land who wish to visit sick relatives in hospital. This can include transport, reasonable food costs and hostel accommodation. Those who wish to take their own vehicles are eligible for fuel vouchers.
Funerals
Grieving families are provided with financial assistance to attend and organise funerals. This can include support for the service, transport costs and help with food.
Liaison
We provide important referral and liaison services for members and other Aboriginal people living on Jawoyn lands dealing with inter-government agencies.
Exceptions
Jawoyn members who receive full time salaries are generally not entitled to emergency relief, such as food or fuel vouchers, unless in extreme emergencies.
