| Lisa Mumbin was born and grew up in Katherine NT, with one brother & one sister, and states herself as being a Ngalkbon/Dalabon & a Jawoyn woman, her Clan: Bokmarnde Moiety: Yirritja Skin: Bangirn. Her career started with the Kalano Community Organization as a shop assistant. She was later transferred to the Administration section as the Aboriginal Liaison Officer. At the time she knew that the Jawoyn people had begun to be involved in land issues, and once the Jawoyn Association was established and was operating, she was encouraged by the elders to go and work within the Jawoyn organisation. Lisa was very interested in the goals set by the organisation and the work undertaken by it. In that time, she has held many positions within the organization, and also held a continuing position on the board as an Executive Member for a number of years. In 1997 she was elected as the chairperson of the Jawoyn Association and has held this position for 8 and a half years. In her capacity as chairperson, Lisa holds a pivotal role in dealing with Jawoyn members as well as maintaining an active involvement with many other Aboriginal Communities and organizations within her region.

- The conceptualisation of the Banatjarl Woman's Resource Centre where she also holds the position as the president.
Lisa has been fundamental in the establishment of important changes and implementations which have seen the Jawoyn Association thrive in the recent years.
Lisa has also been involved in much training with updating and gaining her qualifications, and just recently has been involve with the National Indigenous Women Leadership Programs. She is also looking at furthering her career in the near future with further study. |
